What: Taught by Ocean Rescue lifeguards, this program teaches participants to swim, run and learn the fundamentals of ocean lifeguarding including rescue techniques with rescue equipment, marine hazards, marine ecology and basic first aid. This program is for ages 9-16 years old. Afternoon sessions are targeted for participants interested in participating in Junior Lifeguard competitions. A parent must be present with their child. Participants must pass a 100 yard swim test in less than 2 minutes and 30 seconds (2:30) for the morning sessions or 2 minutes (2:00) for the afternoon sessions.
When: Session 1: June 12–16, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Session 2: Competitors only, June 12–16, 1:00–4:30 p.m.
Session 3: June 26–30, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Session 4: Competitors only, June 26–30, 1:00–4:30 p.m.
Registration is Saturday, May 13 at either Aqua Crest Pool in Delray Beach at 7:30 a.m. or North County Aquatic Complex in Jupiter at 7:45 a.m.
