At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on May 7, 2024, Commissioner Bernard presented a proclamation declaring May 2024 as Haitian Heritage Month in Palm Beach County. Haitian American Heritage Month is a jubilant celebration in the United States embracing Haitian heritage and culture. The Haitian community in Palm Beach County started a Haitian celebration in 2001 that contributed greatly to making Haitian Heritage Month first a statewide celebration, and then a national one.
